Governing law
England and Wales

Leyland Capital Limited respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

Who we are

Leyland Capital Limited (“Leyland Capital”, “we”, “us”) is the controller of the personal information described in this policy, for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 13725136, with our registered office at Ferry Road Office Park, Chandler House No. 7, Ferry Road, Preston PR2 2YH. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZB568480. You can contact us about this policy at info@leylandcapital.co.uk.

Information we collect

  • Enquiries. Your name, company, email address, telephone number and anything else you choose to tell us when you email, call or use the chat assistant on our website.
  • Clients and their advisers. Contact details, identity and verification documents we are required to obtain under anti-money laundering rules, and information about you, your shareholding and your business that is needed to deliver our services.
  • Website use. Limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which our hosting provider records in server logs to keep the website secure and working. We do not use analytics or advertising tracking on this website.

How we use it and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and discuss how we may be able to help, on the basis of our legitimate interests in running our business.
  • To provide our services under an engagement letter, on the basis that this is necessary to perform our contract with you or to take steps at your request before entering into one.
  • To meet our legal obligations, including client identity checks under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017, accounting and tax record-keeping, and responding to lawful requests from regulators or law enforcement.
  • To keep in touch with occasional news and insights relevant to you, where you have agreed to this or where we have an existing relationship with you. You can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary, with other professional advisers working on a transaction with your agreement (such as lawyers and tax advisers), with service providers who support our business and website, and with regulators, law enforcement or other authorities where the law requires us to.

Our website is hosted by Vercel, uses fonts served by Google Fonts and includes a chat assistant provided by GPTMate. These providers process limited technical information, and in the case of the chat assistant the messages you send, in order to provide their services to us.

International transfers

Some of our service providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations, the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as needed to deal with them and any follow-up. Client files are normally kept for six years after an engagement ends, and records of identity checks for at least five years after our business relationship ends, as the money laundering regulations require. Information is then securely deleted.

Keeping it secure and confidential

Confidentiality is central to M&A work. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, limit access to those who need it and require our service providers to do the same.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to your personal information, to ask us to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to ask for it to be transferred to you or another organisation, and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. Some rights are limited, for example where we must keep records by law. To make a request, email info@leylandcapital.co.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The chat assistant may store a small amount of information in your browser so that a conversation can continue as you move between pages. This is needed for the feature to work and does not track you across other websites.
